About The Position

Centurion Surgery Center is looking for a Pre Admission Testing/Pre-Op Nurse (PAT) to join our growing center. This role provides ongoing assessment and nursing care to patients in the facility in accordance with Physician’s orders, policies, procedures, and processes within the scope of practice. The nurse participates in the teaching of patients and family and provides leadership by working cooperatively with other health care team members. The role collaborates with physicians and team members to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care, and maintains standards for professional nursing practice in the clinical setting. The Pre Admission Testing/Pre-Op Nurse (PAT) may act as the interim Clinical Director in the absence of the Clinical Director as designated by the Governing Board.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Current, active, unencumbered, Registered Nurse license in the state of Florida.
  • BLS and ACLS certified.

Nice To Haves

  • Current Pre-0p/PACU experience (within past 2 years) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Observing facility policies, procedures, and processes.
  • Preparing patients for the planned procedure.
  • Obtaining the patient’s medical history, including medications, allergies, and reactions.
  • Carrying out physician’s orders.
  • Observing the patient’s medical condition including vital signs, affect, pain, and symptoms requiring further evaluation and treatment, and escalating concerns to the physician.
  • Communicating to the patient and the care team in an effective manner.
  • Relaying information to appropriate personnel concerning a patient’s condition.
  • Educating the patient including providing instructions in preparation for discharge.
  • Administering medications per physician order.
  • Appropriate documentation of care.
  • Supervising non-licensed personnel as assigned.
  • Maintaining appropriate supplies and medication.
  • Assisting with the preparation and performance of procedures.
  • Assisting in medical records maintenance.
  • Utilizing safe practices and controls to protect patients and self from infection and exposure.
  • Maintaining patient privacy and confidentiality at all times.
  • Maintaining patient’s rights.
  • Maintaining positive and effective interpersonal relationships.
  • Reporting and documenting any unusual occurrences and incidents in a timely manner.
  • Utilizing proper body mechanics while lifting.
  • Serving as a clinical resource.
  • Demonstrating professional accountability.
  • Other duties as assigned.
