About The Position

Baylor Scott & White Medical Center - Trophy Club is hiring a PRN Registered Nurse for the Pre Admission Testing department. This role involves documenting patient history, current medications, performing pre-admission diagnostic testing, and providing pre-operative instruction and teaching. The PAT nurse is responsible for implementing physician orders, communicating pertinent patient information to the surgeon and/or anesthesiologist, and ensuring patient safety, comfort, and privacy.

Requirements

Graduate of accredited school of professional nursing.
Current Texas RN License
BLS, must get ACLS within 30 days’ hire
Minimum two (2) years’ experience as a RN in a clinical setting
Demonstrates knowledge and skill level necessary to assess patient’s psychosocial, educational and physical needs, as well as the ability to address these needs in an age appropriate manner in the pediatric, adolescent, adult and/or geriatric patient population.
Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.
Strong assessment and interview skills
Good organization habits.
Ability to adapt to change quickly, strong knowledge vase relative to surgery procedures and management of the surgical patient
Able to prioritize and organize workload to meet needs of patients and unit
Excellent teaching skills
Experience with Electronic Healthcare Records

Responsibilities

Documenting the patient history, current medications, performs pre-admission diagnostic testing as ordered, and provides pre-operative instruction and teaching.
Implementing physician orders.
Communicating with the surgeon and/or anesthesiologist any pertinent patient information.
Providing patient safety, comfort and privacy at all times.
Performs direct patient care within scope of RN practice and according to hospital policies and procedures.
Plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care for patients based on individual, specific patient needs, and according to physician’s orders.
Responds quickly and appropriately to emergency situations.
Identifies educational needs, implements and evaluates learning and documents patient / family education.
Responds to patients presenting to hospital with healthcare need and perform MSE follows policies and procedures for follow-up.
Follows all documentation policies.
