About The Position

This role involves providing comprehensive care to patients in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). The Registered Nurse will perform post-anesthesia assessments, monitor patients from diverse surgical specialties, and collaborate with medical teams to ensure continuity of care. Responsibilities include administering medications and treatments, managing complex cases, and educating patients and families on post-operative recovery.

Requirements

• Degree or Diploma in Registered Nursing required.
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) License in Virginia (or eligible to obtain).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 90 days of hire.
• ACLS and PALS are required prior to completion of unit orientation.
• Minimum 1-2 years of hospital RN experience, with specific experience in Critical Care or PACU.
• Ability to manage complex cases in a fast-paced environment and communicate effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary providers.

• BSN or MSN preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive post-anesthesia assessments, closely monitoring airway management, hemodynamic stability, and pain control.
• Observe and treat post-operative patients from a wide variety of specialties including General Surgery, Neurosurgery, Orthopedics, Urology, Complex GYN, Vascular/Thoracic, Endoscopy, and Radiology.
• Work closely with Anesthesiologists, Surgeons, and proceduralists to ensure seamless continuity of care and rapid stabilization.
• Administer medications, treatments, and life-support interventions according to established policies and patient acuity needs.
• Educate patients and their families regarding post-operative care, recovery expectations, and discharge instructions.
