About The Position

This Registered Nurse position in Pediatrics at Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) at Lions Gate Hospital focuses on the specialized care of pediatric patients, recognizing their unique healthcare needs. The role involves assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care, participating in discharge planning, advocating for patients, and educating patients and families about their health. The nurse will enhance patient/family quality of life by documenting care, responding to incidents, and collaborating with other healthcare providers. This position requires maintaining clinical competence, participating in committees and research, and practicing in accordance with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) standards and code of ethics. Requirements

• Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
• Post graduate coursework or a certificate in pediatrics including courses in breastfeeding and one (1) year recent related clinical experience working with a pediatric patient population, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Demonstrated ability in nursing practice related to designated patient group.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and implement care plans.
• Demonstrated ability to adjust to unexpected events, problem-solve, establish priorities and deal with conflict.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
• General knowledge of Trauma Informed Practice and Harm Reduction approaches and Strengths-based care.
• Demonstrated ability to deal with others effectively.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
• Demonstrated ability to provide leadership through initiative and problem-solving.
• Demonstrated skill in clinical techniques and the use of applicable equipment and supplies.
• Demonstrated skill in CPR techniques.
• Ability to operate related equipment including applicable software applications.
• Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
