About The Position

Pediatric Specialty Care is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team and provide direct nursing care to medically fragile and technology-dependent children. Our goal is to enable children with special needs to realize their fullest potential in a nurturing and supportive environment. The RN will be responsible for planning, developing, organizing, implementing, assessing, and evaluating the care of individuals to ensure the highest degree of quality care and regulatory compliance. This role involves monitoring non-licensed personnel and assisting in modifying treatment regimens to meet the physical, psychosocial, and developmental needs of the individual. Pediatric Specialty Care is dedicated to providing long-term, short-term, and transitional care for individuals from birth to 21 years of age, focusing on their physical, psychological, and spiritual well-being.

Requirements

  • Credentials as a Registered Nurse with a current state license in good standing for the state in which work is performed.
  • Valid, current BLS/CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language at an intermediate or more advanced level.

Nice To Haves

  • Training and work experience in a pediatric setting preferred.
  • Meets the qualifications of a Child Care Supervisor as described in 55 Pa. Code Chapter 3800.

Responsibilities

  • Actively participates in the planning and delivery of care to all assigned individuals.
  • Administers medications and treatments to assigned individuals as ordered by the physician, utilizing the 5 rights of medication administration.
  • Performs and promotes timely and accurate documentation in care plans, nursing notes, medical administration records, treatment records, and other necessary records.
  • Assists in performing accurate, thorough, and timely completion of nursing admission evaluations and re-evaluations of individual care needs.
  • Provides evaluation of needs for individual care planning and completes individual education.
  • Performs all position duties according to safety rules and standards of practice.
  • Reports any unusual symptoms, changes of condition, daily needs, and progress of individuals to the Director of Nursing, Assistant Director of Nursing, RN Supervisor, and/or licensed professional.
  • Contacts MD/NP/PA for orders or updates according to the individual’s response to the treatment plan and updates family members as needed.
  • Participates in Change-of-Shift Report and is responsible for updating the nursing personnel of the next shift.
  • Attends and participates in orientation and in-service training.
  • Attends and participates in continuing education programs.
  • Encourages and participates in the ongoing education and professional development of NTs and LPNs.
  • Serves as a role model and represents the organization professionally.
  • Participates in quality improvement, clinical, and safety programs upon request.
