Mayo Clinic is seeking a Registered Nurse for their Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). This unit specializes in the care of critically ill pediatric patients across all specialties, including medical, surgical, trauma, orthopedic, cardiac, neurological, and pulmonary. The PICU is a designated unit for pediatric liver and kidney transplants, bone marrow transplants, and cares for critical patients with congenital and complex, multi-organ problems requiring ongoing interventions. The PICU RN will float to other units as needed. The role utilizes a family-centered care model and a multidisciplinary team approach with around-the-clock nursing observation, assessment, and interventions. The PICU also has a pediatric transport team for critically ill infants and children. The registered nurse is accountable for coordinating nursing care, including direct patient care, patient/family education, and transitions of care, supporting professional nursing practice and meeting patient/family needs. The RN functions within the Mayo Clinic Nursing Professional Practice Model, adhering to the ANA Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice. Responsibilities include planning, implementing, evaluating, and communicating nursing care, delegating patient care based on skill, experience, acuity, fiscal accountability, and resources. The RN is expected to possess excellent communication, mentoring, and teaching skills, and may participate in committees or projects. A subset of employees may be required to drive their personal vehicle. This role is eligible for TN sponsorship, requiring state licensure and VisaScreen or equivalent certification.
