About The Position

Under the supervision of the UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospitals (BCH) Nurse Manager, the Clinical Nurse II – Practice Nurse in the Pediatric Treatment Center provides direct and indirect clinical care to pediatric outpatients with a variety of hematologic disorders. Care is delivered through the systematic application of the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation), with all components individualized to meet the physiological, psychosocial, and developmental needs of each patient. The nurse performs ongoing assessments, modifies care plans as needed, and ensures continuity of care across inpatient, outpatient, home care, and multidisciplinary provider settings. The Pediatric Hematology Nurse is actively involved in patient, staff, and provider education and participates in clinical research activities, incorporating evidence-based findings into care planning and implementation. Functions as a member of the interdisciplinary and nursing teams, carrying out established nursing procedures and related duties as required. Provides care for patients with complex needs under appropriate guidance and assists in the management of care delivered by other members of the healthcare team.
