About The Position

We are seeking a Registered Nurse for our Pediatric Critical Care Float Pool. This position involves working 3x12-hour night shifts per week, from 7 PM to 7:30 AM, totaling 36 hours per week. The role requires working a minimum of 3-4 weekend shifts per schedule and participating in holiday rotations. The nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 1:2 or 1:3. Clinicians will float within their scope to meet facility needs, including all Pediatric units within SJCH (CVPICU, NICU, PICU). We accept first-time travelers if they possess the required experience. All RTO must be submitted at the time of submission, with approval based on unit needs. Travelers should be aware that during hurricane season (June through November, with peak activity in August and September), all employees and contractors may be assigned to emergency response teams. If this is an issue, travelers should not confirm a new or extended assignment during this period. The facility allows for one shift call-off per two weeks.

Requirements

• 2 years of Peds ICU experience.
• South Carolina or Multi-State/Compact State RN License.
• BLS certification.
• PALS certification (American Heart Association only).
• Must be able to float to all Pediatric units in SJCH (CVPICU, NICU, PICU).
• Must reside within a 60-mile radius of the facility if considered local.

Nice To Haves

• ECMO experience.
• CRRT experience.
• Block schedule accommodation (requires manager approval and is dependent on unit needs).

Responsibilities

• Float to all Pediatric units within SJCH (CVPICU, NICU, PICU) as needed.
• Provide critical care nursing to pediatric patients.
• Adhere to a 1:2/1:3 nurse-to-patient ratio.
• Work 3x12-hour night shifts per week (7 PM - 7:30 AM).

• Be available for emergency response teams during hurricane season.
