About The Position

Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Pediatric Cardiac Operating Room (OR) in Nashville, Tennessee. VUMC is a community dedicated to advancing health and wellness through patient care, education, and research. This role involves applying the nursing process to plan and implement patient care, including education and continuum of care planning. The nurse will collaborate with the healthcare team, establish patient goals, and evaluate progress. Professional growth is encouraged through continuous learning activities. This position is 40 hours per week, with a rotation of day and night shifts, consisting of four 10-hour shifts per week. Overtime may be required based on patient needs. The role also includes a weekend and holiday call rotation.

Requirements

  • RN required
  • Pediatric Cardiac OR experience as a circulator highly preferred.
  • Registered Nurse with Pediatric Critical Care experience may be considered.
  • Nursing Patient Assessment & Evaluation (Fundamental Awareness)
  • Nursing Patient Education (Fundamental Awareness)

  • Evidence-Based Practice (Fundamental Awareness)
  • LIC-Registered Nurse - Licensure-Others
  • Relevant Work Experience
  • Graduate of an approved discipline specific program

Responsibilities

  • Applies the nursing process to plan and implement the care of patients, including patient and family education and continuum of care planning.
  • Effectively communicates pertinent patient/family information to the health care team.
  • Collaborates in establishing patient goals and evaluates progress to ensure effective outcomes.
  • Furthers professional growth by engaging in learning activities according to the Board of Nursing standards.
  • Collaborates in establishing the plan of care, coordinates and implements care delivery while anticipating patient care needs across the continuum.
  • Analyzes comprehensive information pertinent to the patient's care and management to determine nursing diagnosis.
  • Continually utilizes the nursing process to evaluate patient's progress towards goals and applies appropriate interventions to ensure effective outcomes.
  • Employs strategies to promote health and a safe and healthy environment.
