About The Position

This role focuses on providing direct patient care in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU). Key responsibilities include patient assessment and monitoring, managing complex cardiac rhythms and drips, collaborating with an interdisciplinary team, and ensuring accurate documentation within the EMR system. The position requires adherence to strict infection control and safety protocols.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited Registered Nursing program.
• Active, unencumbered Virginia RN license or Multi-State Compact License.
• Minimum of 18 months to 2 years of recent acute care RN experience.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.

Nice To Haves

• BSN degree.
• Experience in PCU, Stepdown, or ICU settings.
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification (may be required depending on the specific unit).

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive assessments and interpret complex telemetry, cardiac rhythms, and vital signs.
• Manage titratable cardiac drips (e.g., heparin, insulin, nitroglycerin, vasopressin), respond to rapid changes in patient status, and assist with procedures.
• Coordinate with physicians, respiratory therapists, case managers, and physical therapists.
• Assess and coordinate ongoing patient discharge needs with the healthcare team.
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation within the electronic medical records (EMR) system while strictly adhering to infection control and safety protocols.
