About The Position

Dallas Regional Medical Center, a 202-bed acute care hospital accredited by The Joint Commission and a member of Prime Healthcare, is seeking a Registered Nurse for its PCU. The hospital offers a wide range of medical services including 24/7 emergency care, cardiology, wound care, surgical services, cardiac catheterization, and imaging. It is recognized as the only Certified Stroke Center, Accredited Chest Pain Center, and Labor and Delivery Unit in the area, and the only Trauma Center for 13 miles. Dallas Regional was also the first Accredited Geriatric Emergency Room in Dallas County and has received Healthgrades Patient Safety Excellence Awards, 15 Healthgrades Five-Star ratings, and Straight 'A' Hospital Safety Grades from The Leapfrog Group since 2018. The Registered Nurse in the PCU is responsible for delivering safe patient care using the nursing process, providing direct patient care within their scope of practice, and guiding patient/family teaching and other nursing personnel while maintaining care standards. They communicate with physicians about changes in patient conditions, including hemodynamic monitoring, diagnostic study results, and abnormal findings, and must respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or treatment response, while maintaining patient privacy and confidentiality.

Requirements

  • Current and valid state RN License
  • Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current
  • Current ACLS certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current
  • Minimum of one year as a staff RN in acute care hospital

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of Critical Care Course
  • Critical Care RN (CCRN) Certification
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Critical care experience (preferred for the one year as staff RN)

Responsibilities

  • Delivery of safe patient care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation
  • Provides direct patient care within the scope of practice
  • Directs and guides patient/family teaching and activities of other nursing personnel while maintaining standards of care in the PCU
  • Is directly responsible and accountable for the care given to his/her assigned patients
  • Communicates with the physician about changes in the patient's clinical condition including hemodynamic monitoring, results of diagnostic studies and abnormal results and symptomatology
  • Is able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition and/or response to treatment
  • Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality
