About The Position

Sentara RMH Medical Center is hiring a Registered Nurse for the Progressive Care unit (PCU). This role is suited for candidates with experience or an interest in working in a high acuity unit, where the patient population includes individuals experiencing pain, shortness of breath, fatigue, numbness, and sleep problems. The RN assists families with medical decisions by helping them understand medical conditions and available care choices. The position requires strong customer service skills and a great work ethic. A sign-on bonus of up to $20,000 and relocation assistance are offered. The Registered Nurse is responsible for delivering competent nursing care, adhering to the critical thinking model of the nursing process, which includes assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care (teaching and health promotion), and evaluation. The role also encompasses professional performance standards such as ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice/nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health. RNs must possess the clinical knowledge and skills specific to their clinical areas. A 10-week Transition to Practice (TTP) program is available, focusing on orientation, knowledge support, and skill acquisition for Medical-Surgical areas. For new graduates, this TTP program initiates a comprehensive 6-month residency to support their transition into practice. The program includes formal delivery of fundamental nursing concepts and standards through in-person sessions with case studies, gaming, simulation, and skills labs, exposure to Sentara policies and evidence-based practice guidelines, hands-on experience with a trained nurse preceptor, networking opportunities with peers, and optional virtual professional development sessions with mentoring for experienced nurses.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree - Nursing or Bachelor’s Degree - Nursing
  • Registered Nurse certification/licensure

Responsibilities
