About The Position

Sentara RMH Medical Center is hiring a Registered Nurse for the Progressive Care unit. This position is suitable for candidates with experience or an interest in working in a high acuity unit, where the patient population includes individuals experiencing pain, shortness of breath, fatigue, numbness, and sleep problems. The role involves assisting families with medical decisions by providing a better understanding of medical conditions and care choices. Strong customer service and a great work ethic are desired. Sentara RMH Medical Center, a Magnet designated hospital in Harrisonburg, VA, serves a seven-county area with a population of 218,000 and employs 2600 locals. This 238-bed community hospital has been serving the area since 1912 and partnered with Sentara Health System in 2011. Requirements

  • Associates Degree - Nursing
  • Bachelor’s Degree - Nursing
  • Registered Nurse certification/licensure

Responsibilities

  • Perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process.
  • Meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.
  • Assist families with medical decisions by providing better understanding of the medical condition and choices for medical care.
  • Adhere to the standards of practice, including assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care (teaching and health promotion), and evaluation.
  • Adhere to the standards of professional performance, including ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice/nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health.
