About The Position

Abbott is a global healthcare leader whose portfolio includes diagnostics, medical devices, nutritionals, and branded generic medicines. Within Abbott’s Diagnostics family of businesses, the Registered Nurse - Patient Educator provides personalized face-to-face training for Acelis Connected Health customers who perform home testing. Training covers obtaining a finger-stick blood sample, using PT/INR products, and fulfilling test-reporting responsibilities. The position is per diem and specific to the trainer’s state and city. The role is remote in the sense that training appointments are arranged remotely, but the trainer travels to customers’ homes. It requires 100% travel and work with human blood or other potentially infectious materials.

Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse.
• Clinical experience.
• Complete assigned educational prerequisites.
• Provide proof of health-screening documentation.
• Successfully complete a consumer report/background check and pre-employment drug screening.
• Be proficient with computers and smart devices.
• Own a personal laptop or desktop computer to complete company requirements if needed.
• Have access to a printer.
• Be proficient in basic website and application troubleshooting using a smart device.
• Travel a minimum of 100 miles round trip.
• No lifting over 15 pounds without assistance.

Nice To Haves

• Direct experience or exposure to anticoagulation management or home care.
• Health education training experience.

Responsibilities

• Arrange training appointments remotely and directly with customers or caregivers.
• Travel to customers’ homes within the general geographic area of the trainer’s home.
• Demonstrate and teach customers or caregivers the proper use and care of PT/INR equipment.
• Explain test-reporting options.
• Communicate and present oneself professionally.
• Accurately document and electronically submit patient training records.
• Maintain communication with Acelis Connected Health by cell phone, email, and internet access.
• Use secure encrypted email when communicating information that includes customers’ protected health information.
• Provide reliable transportation.
