About The Position

Baptist Health is seeking a Registered Nurse to join their Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) at the Baptist South location. This is a Full-Time position with an Evenings shift, requiring call rotation and a 40-minute response time. The role offers competitive differentials and additional call compensation. The Registered Nurse in the PACU will monitor post-operative patients' recovery levels and consciousness from anesthesia, manage pain and nausea, administer prescribed medications, and regularly check vital signs. Responsibilities also include educating patients and families on post-surgery care, updating patient records, and coordinating care with ancillary services. The position involves serving as a patient advocate and providing care for various medical and surgical conditions.

Requirements

  • Experience: 2-3 years Surgical Services Experience
  • Experience: 2-3 years Critical Care Nursing Experience
  • Licenses and Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) Required
  • Licenses and Certifications: Licensed Registered Nurse Required

  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing Preferred
  • Licenses and Certifications: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Preferred
  • Licenses and Certifications: Conscious Sedation Certification Preferred
  • Licenses and Certifications: Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR) Preferred
  • Licenses and Certifications: Certified Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) Preferred

Responsibilities

  • Monitoring post-operative patients' levels of recovery and consciousness from anesthesia.
  • Treating pain, nausea, and other post-operative symptoms of anesthesia.
  • Administering medication as prescribed.
  • Regularly checking vital signs to quickly interrupt any potential issues.
  • Educating patients and their families on post-surgery care.
  • Updating charts, patient files, and medical records.
  • Providing for patient needs as recognized through use of the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation) and the mission statement organization.
  • Supervision of care provided by supportive personnel and coordination of care provided by ancillary services.
  • Including patients and significant other (SO)/families in developing an individualized plan of care.
  • Education of patients/SO/families to their disease process and plan of care.
  • Coordination and preparation of assigned room/case, assessment of patient care needs and the anticipation of needs of the case.
  • Serves as patient advocate and responsible for providing care to patients requiring treatment of any medical, surgical, or other condition, including chronic medical and minor injuries or illnesses.
