The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Perianesthesia unit plays a pivotal role in providing and coordinating comprehensive patient care through the nursing process. This involves delivering safe, therapeutic care in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures. Utilizing evidence-based practice, clinical decision-making, compassion, and communication skills, the RN leads efforts to create the safest patient environment and the best patient experience across the continuum of care. The Perianesthesia unit at ABMC operates in two dedicated locations within the hospital: East (first floor) and Main (second floor). Each unit functions independently and delivers comprehensive, high-quality care across all three phases: Preoperative, Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), and Discharge. The multidisciplinary team includes Registered Nurses (RNs), Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs), and Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), all working collaboratively with ABMC physicians and Anesthesia providers to deliver exceptional and compassionate care, ensuring safe, seamless, and patient-centered care throughout the surgical and procedural journey.
