About The Position

Baptist Health is seeking a Registered Nurse to join their Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) at the Baptist South location. This is a Full-Time position with an Evenings shift, requiring call rotation. The role involves monitoring post-operative patients' recovery from anesthesia, managing pain and nausea, administering medication, and regularly checking vital signs. The nurse will also be responsible for educating patients and families on post-surgery care and maintaining patient records. This position offers competitive differentials and additional call compensation. The scheduled shift is from 9:30 am to 10:00 pm, with a requirement for a 40-minute call response time.

Requirements

Experience 2-3 years Surgical Services Experience
Experience 2-3 years Critical Care Nursing Experience
Associate of Science in Nursing Required
Basic Life Support (BLS) Required
Licensed Registered Nurse Required

Responsibilities

Monitoring post-operative patients' levels of recovery and consciousness from anesthesia.
Treating pain, nausea, and other post-operative symptoms of anesthesia.
Administering medication as prescribed.
Regularly checking vital signs to quickly interrupt any potential issues.
Educating patients and their families on post-surgery care.
Updating charts, patient files, and medical records.
Providing for patient needs as recognized through use of the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation) and the mission statement organization.
Supervision of care provided by supportive personnel and coordination of care provided by ancillary services.
Including patients and significant other (SO)/families in developing an individualized plan of care.
Education of patients/SO/families to their disease process and plan of care.
Coordination and preparation of assigned room/case, assessment of patient care needs and the anticipation of needs of the case.
Serves as patient advocate and responsible for providing care to patients requiring treatment of any medical, surgical, or other condition, including chronic medical and minor injuries or illnesses.
