About The Position

This position is for a Registered Nurse in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) at Main Hospital. The role involves 3 scheduled 12-hour shifts and 1 call shift per week, with start times varying between 0730 and 1030. If working in Pre-op, the start time can be as early as 0600. On-call nurses must be able to report to the PACU within 30 minutes. The role requires proficiency in monitoring vital signs, level of consciousness, and pain management post-anesthesia. Responsibilities include administering and titrating medications, recognizing and responding to airway complications, and managing IV lines. Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) and documenting patient progress is essential. The nurse will care for patients after various major surgeries, including general, vascular, neuro, orthopedic, and trauma surgeries.

Requirements

  • CA license required.
  • ADN degree.
  • ACLS, BLS, PALS certifications.
  • 2-3 years of PACU/Critical Care Experience (adults and peds).
  • Pre-op experience.
  • Proficiency in monitoring vital signs, level of consciousness, and pain management post-anesthesia.
  • Knowledge of administering and titrating medications, including pain management and anesthesia reversal agents.
  • Ability to recognize and respond to airway complications.
  • Competence in starting and managing IV lines, including administering fluids and medications.
  • Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) and accurate documentation of patient progress and interventions.
  • Proficient in taking care of patients after various major surgeries including not limited to General, vascular, neuro, orthopedic surgery, trauma patients after surgery.
