About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) at Aurora West Allis Medical Center is responsible for delivering individualized care using the nursing process. This includes assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care plans tailored to each patient’s needs. The RN will monitor and respond to changes in patient condition, collaborating with the healthcare team to ensure optimal outcomes. Patient safety is a priority, with strategies for risk reduction and prompt reporting of safety events. The role also involves verifying patient identity, allergies, and surgical site, as well as educating patients and families for discharge readiness. Coordination of care and discharge planning through an interdisciplinary approach ensures continuity of care. The RN will lead and delegate effectively, foster teamwork, and support unlicensed personnel. Engagement in quality improvement initiatives and maintaining professional growth through ongoing education are also key aspects of this position.

Requirements

  • Completion of an accredited or approved program in nursing
  • Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the teammate practices
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association

Nice To Haves

  • 1-2 years of inpatient nursing med/surg ideally ICU or ED. or periop experience
