About The Position

Sentara Leigh Hospital, located in Norfolk, VA, is hiring a full time Registered Nurse (RN) for their PACU in the Same Day Surgery Unit. This position offers a $15,000 sign-on bonus for candidates with a minimum of one year of experience. The unit sees patients for General, GYN, Ortho, Total Joints, Urology, and Vascular procedures. The Registered Nurse is responsible for providing a competent level of nursing care using the nursing process, which includes assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care, teaching, health promotion, and evaluation. Professional performance standards encompass ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice/nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health. The RN must possess clinical knowledge and skills to meet the standards required by specific clinical areas. BSN or MSN is preferred. Specific certifications are required within certain timeframes depending on the specialty area, including ACLS, PALS, ENPC, ONS/ONCC, Chemotherapy & Biotherapy Provider Card, NRP, and BLS.

Requirements

  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience.
  • BLS within 90 days of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • BSN or MSN preferred.
  • ACLS within 1 year of hire (for Critical Care/IMCU).
  • ACLS & PALS or ENPC within 1 year of hire (for Emergency Care).
  • ONS/ONCC or Sentara approved course Chemotherapy & Biotherapy Provider Card within 6 months of hire (for Oncology Care).
  • NRP within 6 months of hire (for Women's Care - Perinatal departments).
  • PALS within 6 months of hire (for Inpatient Pediatrics).

Responsibilities

  • Perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process.
  • Utilize the standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation).
  • Adhere to the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice/nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health).
  • Possess clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.
  • Meet and maintain any requirements defined by specific specialty (e.g., Critical Care/IMCU ACLS, Emergency Care - ACLS & PALS or ENPC, Oncology Care ONS/ONCC or Sentara approved course Chemotherapy & Biotherapy Provider Card, Women's Care - Perinatal departments; NRP, Inpatient Pediatrics. PALS, All Direct Care RN's required to have BLS).
