About The Position

The Registered Nurse in the PACU/Recovery unit will provide direct nursing care for anesthetized patients in the immediate post-operative or post-procedural period. This role involves following aseptic sterile technique according to AORN/ASPAN standards, evaluating patient responses to treatments and interventions, managing patient pain, and anticipating case-specific needs based on knowledge of procedures and pathophysiology. The position is within the Orthosports PACU Block area.

Requirements

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Licensed Associate Professional Registered Nurse credentialed from the Alabama Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
• Graduate of an accredited Nursing program required.
• Professional licensure at time of hire required.
• Minimum of 1 year PACU, ICU, or ER experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care for anesthetized patients in the immediate post-operative or post-procedural period.
• Follow aseptic sterile technique according to Association of Perioperative Registered Nurses / American Society of Peri Anesthesia Nurses (AORN/ASPAN) standards.
• Evaluate patient's responses to treatments and interventions.
• Manage patient's pain.
• Anticipate case-specific needs based on knowledge of procedure(s) performed and pathophysiology.
