About The Position

This is a full-time Registered Nurse position in the Orthosports PACU (Post-Anesthesia Care Unit) / Recovery department. The role involves providing direct nursing care for anesthetized patients in the immediate post-operative or post-procedural period. Responsibilities include following aseptic sterile technique, evaluating patient responses to treatments, managing patient pain, and anticipating case-specific needs based on procedural knowledge and pathophysiology. The schedule is for full-time days, Monday through Friday, with a shift from 8:30 AM to 9:00 PM, involving three 12-hour shifts per week, plus call. Holidays and weekends are not typically worked unless on call.

Requirements

Graduate of an accredited Nursing program required.
Licensed Associate Professional Registered Nurse credentialed from the Alabama Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
Professional licensure at time of hire required.

Nice To Haves

One year of critical care, ER, or PACU experience highly preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide direct nursing care for anesthetized patients in the immediate post-operative or post-procedural period.
Follow aseptic sterile technique according to Association of Perioperative Registered Nurses / American Society of Peri Anesthesia Nurses (AORN/ASPAN) standards.
Evaluate patient's responses to treatments and interventions.
Manage patient's pain.
Anticipate case-specific needs based on knowledge of procedure(s) performed and pathophysiology.
