About The Position

The Registered Nurse PACU Recovery role is based in the PACU at Ascension Saint Thomas Midtown in Nashville, Tennessee. This full-time day-schedule position provides post-anesthesia recovery care. The nurse maintains aseptic sterile techniques in alignment with AORN and ASPAN standards, assesses patients’ physical and psychological status, and provides targeted interventions and pain management to support recovery. The role also anticipates case-specific needs using knowledge of pathophysiology and surgical procedures to coordinate OR/PACU workflow, and leads multidisciplinary discharge planning with families and healthcare teams.

Requirements

• Obtain Registered Nurse credential before the hire date or job transfer date.
• Obtain Advanced Life Support certification within 6 months (180 days) of hire or job transfer; American Heart Association or American Red Cross credentials are accepted.
• Obtain BLS Provider certification within 1 month (30 days) of hire or job transfer; American Heart Association or American Red Cross credentials are accepted.
• Obtain Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification within 6 months (180 days) of hire or job transfer; American Heart Association or American Red Cross credentials are accepted.
• Diploma from an accredited school or college of nursing, or required professional licensure at the time of hire.

Responsibilities

• Maintain aseptic sterile techniques in alignment with AORN and ASPAN standards.
• Assess patients’ physical and psychological status and deliver targeted interventions and pain management.
• Anticipate case-specific needs using knowledge of pathophysiology and surgical procedures to streamline OR/PACU workflow.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary discharge planning with families and healthcare teams to support transitions of care.
