About The Position

The Post Anesthesia Care Unit Registered Nurse provides direct patient care, monitoring patients as they recover and stabilizing them after surgical procedures. The nurse assesses patient responses to anesthesia, treatments, and interventions and delivers safe, evidence-based nursing care throughout the post-operative period. The role also includes managing pain and recovery needs using clinical judgment, quality improvement practices, and established PACU nursing standards. Aseptic and sterile techniques are implemented according to AORN and ASPAN standards to protect patient safety and maintain high-quality care.

Requirements

• Registered Nurse licensure obtained before the hire date or job transfer date.
• Advanced Life Support certification obtained within 6 months (180 days) of the hire date or job transfer date; American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• BLS Provider certification obtained within 1 month (30 days) of the hire date or job transfer date; American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification obtained within 6 months (180 days) of the hire date or job transfer date; American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Diploma from an accredited school or college of nursing, or required professional licensure at the time of hire.

Responsibilities

• Deliver direct patient care and monitor and stabilize patients recovering from surgical procedures.
• Assess patient responses to anesthesia, treatments, and interventions.
• Provide safe, evidence-based nursing care throughout the post-operative period.
• Manage patient pain and recovery needs using clinical judgment and quality improvement practices.
• Implement aseptic and sterile techniques according to AORN and ASPAN standards.
