About The Position
The Registered Nurse in the PACU/Recovery department at UAB St. Vincent's Birmingham will provide direct nursing care for anesthetized patients in the immediate post-operative or post-procedural period. This role involves following aseptic sterile technique according to AORN/ASPAN standards, evaluating patient responses to treatments and interventions, managing patient pain, and anticipating case-specific needs based on procedure knowledge and pathophysiology.
Requirements
- BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
- Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
- Licensed Associate Professional Registered Nurse credentialed from the Alabama Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
- Graduate of an accredited Nursing program required.
- Professional licensure at time of hire required.
- One year of nursing experience required.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care for anesthetized patients in the immediate post-operative or post-procedural period.
- Follow aseptic sterile technique according to Association of Perioperative Registered Nurses / American Society of Peri Anesthesia Nurses (AORN/ASPAN) standards.
- Evaluate patient's responses to treatments and interventions.
- Manage patient's pain.
- Anticipate case-specific needs based on knowledge of procedure(s) performed and pathophysiology.
