About The Position

Michigan Surgical is seeking a skilled, adaptable, and patient-focused PACU/Pre-Op Registered Nurse to join our team on a PRN basis. This is a "fill-in" role averaging about 24 hours a week to help our teams out with staff call-outs, vacation leaves, and coverage needs. Because this role supports both of our premier ambulatory surgery centers, travel is involved between our Troy and Utica locations. Requirements

  • Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Michigan.
  • Active BLS and ACLS certifications are required.
  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing (BSN preferred).
  • Must have reliable transportation and willingness to travel/float between the Troy and Utica ASC locations as needed.
  • Strong communication skills, dedication to great patient service, and familiarity with EMR systems.
  • RN license and certification as required by state.
  • BLS certification required, ACLS required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Delivers exceptional patient service throughout all interactions.
  • Knowledge in healthcare systems operations such as EMR.
  • Complies with HIPAA regulations for patient confidentiality.
  • Complies with all health and safety policies of the organization.
  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing, BSN preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years of pre-operative or post-anesthesia (PACU) experience is preferred.
  • 2 years' pre-operative/post-anesthesia experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Plans and organizes the daily activities of the Pre-operative and PACU areas in accordance with instructions of the clinical director, physicians and the center’s administrative procedures.
  • Responsible for the provision of a safe environment by following the post anesthesia standards of care.
  • Communicates the patient’s current status to the appropriate parties throughout the continuum of care.
  • Performs interventions to maintain the status of the patient’s genitourinary, gastrointestinal, musculoskeletal, endocrine, respiratory, cardiovascular, and neurological systems and fluid, electrolyte, and acid-base balances at or above baseline levels.
  • Performs interventions to protect the patient from surgical site infection.
  • Assesses and provides appropriate and knowledgeable instructions/training/education to patients and family members throughout the perioperative process.
  • Reports and documents all pertinent observations and nursing interventions.
  • Performs other position related duties as assigned.
  • Employees shall adhere to high standards of ethical conduct and will comply with and assist in complying with all applicable laws and regulations. This will include and not be limited to following the Solaris Health Code of Conduct and all Solaris Health and Affiliated Practice policies and procedures; maintaining the confidentiality of patients' protected health information in compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA); immediately reporting any suspected concerns and/or violations to a supervisor and/or the Compliance Department; and the timely completion the Annual Compliance Training.
