About The Position

This role involves assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and recording patient care in accordance with medical and nursing plans. The nurse will participate in patient teaching and rehabilitation, coordinate discharge planning with the health team, and direct/assist other nursing staff. Collaboration with the patient care team and maintenance of professional nursing standards are key. The role also includes functioning as a charge nurse, understanding age-specific patient needs, and utilizing nursing knowledge for comprehensive patient care. Proficiency in using the hospital computer system is also required.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program
  • Current license as an RN in Pennsylvania, or must pass nursing boards within 6 months of hire
  • BLS required or obtained within 1 month of hire
  • ACLS, Dysrhythmia course required or obtained within 6 months of hire
  • Eight (8) Hours of approved Trauma Education per year required
  • Trauma Nurse Course Completion within 1 year of hire or 6 months of transfer

Nice To Haves

  • 3-5 years general nursing preferred
  • 3-5 years critical care or PACU experience preferred
  • Moderate sedation experience preferred
  • PALS certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and recording patient care in accordance with the medical and nursing plans of care.
  • Participating in teaching and rehabilitation of the patient.
  • Coordinating discharge planning in conjunction with other members of the health team.
  • Directing and assisting the Licensed Practical Nurse, Nursing Assistant, and Nursing Student in rendering care to patients.
  • Working collaboratively with all members of the patient care team and providing leadership so that standards of professional nursing practice are maintained in a clinical setting.
  • Demonstrating ability to function as a charge nurse as assigned.
  • Demonstrating knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the span of life.
  • Identifying each patient’s age-specific needs and provide appropriate care for the neonate, pediatric, adolescent, or adult patient.
  • Utilizing nursing knowledge to effectively assess patients, formulate patient plan of care, implementing and evaluating care, and recording completely.
  • Utilizing interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with patients, family, and other members of the healthcare team.
  • Utilizing the hospital computer system.
