About The Position

Mater Hospital Springfield has an exciting opportunity for experienced Registered Nurses to join our Post Anaesthetic Care Unit (PACU) in full-time or part-time (28 hours per week), permanent positions, commencing September 2026. As Queensland's newest public hospital, Mater Hospital Springfield delivers world-class healthcare to one of the state's fastest-growing communities, offering a broad range of surgical specialties including orthopaedics, general surgery, ENT, gynaecology, urology, ophthalmology, plastics, paediatrics and obstetrics. Working within our modern perioperative service, you'll play a key role in providing exceptional post-anaesthetic care across this diverse surgical caseload, while being part of a collaborative multidisciplinary team committed to outstanding patient outcomes. Requirements

  • Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse
  • Demonstrated recent experience working within a Post Anaesthetic Care Unit (PACU) is essential
  • Strong clinical assessment skills with the ability to recognise and respond to deteriorating patients
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a collaborative approach to patient care
  • Commitment to evidence-based practice, patient safety and continuous quality improvement
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team while maintaining a high standard of professional practice

Nice To Haves

  • Experience caring for obstetric and/or paediatric patients is highly desirable

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients recovering from anaesthesia following a variety of surgical procedures
  • Perform ongoing patient assessment, monitoring and timely clinical intervention throughout the recovery phase
  • Collaborate with anaesthetists, surgeons and the multidisciplinary team to coordinate safe and effective patient care
  • Advocate for patients and provide compassionate care that supports their physical, emotional and spiritual wellbeing
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and adhere to evidence-based practice, infection prevention and quality standards
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, education and professional development opportunities
  • Contribute positively to a collaborative team environment that promotes excellence in perioperative care
