About The Position

This is a PRN (As Needed) position with available shifts Monday-Friday, 8:00 am-4:30 pm. It includes an every 6th weekend rotation and rotating holidays. The role utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate comprehensive care. Primary responsibilities include direct patient care, patient/family teaching, symptom management, counseling, and providing a supportive role to assist patients and their families. Specific skills may be required depending on the location, unit, or specialty assignment.

Requirements

  • Diploma Program or Associates Degree in Nursing
  • 1 year of Nursing experience
  • Licensed Registered Nurse (upon hire)
  • Basic Life Support certification (upon hire)
  • Current BLS certification for all areas of nursing practice
  • Thinks critically, utilizes sound judgment and promptly reports potential patient safety risks to provider and/or manager.
  • Demonstrates good organizational skills in the preparation of daily work schedules and the assignment of duties and responsibilities.
  • Ability to effectively work with and through physicians, subordinates, customers, and other personnel in a cooperative, collaborative manner in order to improve patient care outcomes.
  • Ability to efficiently and effectively manage multiple tasks.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, patient care environment.
  • Demonstrates ability to promote quality improvement through development and maintenance of standards.
  • Ability to maintain professional conduct in all work-related and/or emergent situations.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelors Degree in Nursing (BSN)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification (preferred for specific units)
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification (preferred for specific units)
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification (preferred for specific units)

Responsibilities

  • Provides general nursing care and personal care assistance to patients.
  • Writes initial nursing histories, assesses patients' conditions, and develops individual care plans.
  • Carries out physician orders, such as administering medications or treatments, preparing operating rooms, and ordering tests.
  • Cleans and prepares rooms between procedures and after terminal cleaning.
  • Monitors and restocks supplies.
  • Assists providers during examinations and procedures.
  • Maintains aseptic techniques and monitors for breaches.
  • Assists in patient care activities such as changing dressings, cleaning wounds, monitoring vital signs, starting IV solutions, and inserting tubes.
  • Provides health care instruction and education to patients and family members.
  • Performs nursing administrative duties, including preparing and maintaining records of patient charges.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of growth and development principles for the assigned patient population.
  • Assesses and interprets patient age-specific data and provides appropriate treatment.
  • Provides direct patient care to assigned patient age groups.
  • Demonstrates commitment to patient, visitor, and staff safety by complying with regulations, reporting errors and hazards, and participating in safety education.
  • Maintains established policies, procedures, and quality, safety, and infection control standards.
  • Maintains professional growth and development.
  • Provides outstanding service, fosters teamwork, and practices fiscal responsibility.
  • Ensures adequate stock of supplies and proper equipment functioning.
