This outpatient RN role supports complex cardiothoracic patients in both the pre‑operative and post‑operative settings. Primary responsibilities include patient care and coordination through in‑person visits, phone interactions, and the patient portal. The position is primarily onsite at Emerson Hall (545 Barnhill Drive, Suite 215), with occasional remote flexibility and very rare travel to other sites. This is a fast‑paced and rewarding opportunity to work alongside world‑class surgeons while delivering exceptional care to IU Health patients. Previous surgical experience is preferred but not required. Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm  No Weekends! No holidays!

Requirements

  • Requires an Associates of Nursing (ASN); Bachelors of Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license.
  • Requires that the RN has graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program. Exceptions: Candidates who have not graduated from a nationally accredited program may be considered if they possess more than two years of relevant clinical experience. Such exceptions are subject to review and approval by the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO).
  • Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
  • Other advanced Life Support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
  • May require ability to assess patients without face-to-face interaction.
  • Requires awareness and understanding of legal implications of patient care activities and performance as a Registered Nurse.
  • Minimum of one year of RN experience
