About The Position

The Registered Nurse OR delivers professional nursing care in an operative setting to patients undergoing surgical or other invasive procedures. The role performs circulating functions, including monitoring, recording, and communicating patient condition, and managing overall nursing care before, during, and after procedures. The nurse directly assists the operating physician with surgical tasks such as hemostasis, suturing, wound exposure, and patient positioning. The role also prepares operating rooms, instruments, and equipment for use. The position is based at Ascension St. Vincent in Fishers, Indiana, in the Surgery department, with a PRN schedule.

Requirements

Registered Nurse credential from the Indiana Board of Nursing, obtained before the hire or job transfer date.
One or more of the following certifications are required: Advanced Life Support within 6 months (180 days) of hire or transfer; or BLS Provider within 1 month (30 days) of hire or transfer. American Heart Association or American Red Cross credentials are accepted.
Diploma from an accredited school or college of nursing, or required professional licensure at the time of hire.

Nice To Haves

Strong preference for five or more years of experience in PACU or Preop in a hospital setting.
Strong preference for candidates who already hold BLS, ACLS, and PALS.
