About The Position

Hartford Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to work in the Operating Room (OR) specializing in Neuro Spine surgeries. The OR Nurse functions as a Circulator/Scrub Nurse, organizing and administering individualized, professional patient care in accordance with hospital policies and AORN, ASPAN, and SGNA standards. This role involves patient teaching, incorporating age and cultural needs, and participating in quality improvement activities. The Neuro OR team provides specialized care for patients undergoing complex neuro and spine surgeries, including conditions such as brain tumors, vascular malformations, degenerative spine disease, neuro/spine trauma, and spinal cord injuries. Nurses are crucial in ensuring patient safety and well-being during these procedures.

Requirements

• Current active CT RN License
• Previous OR experience required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required at time of hire
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Independent problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication skills

Nice To Haves

• BSN Preferred
• CNOR certification preferred
• OR Novice nurses, including Graduate Nurses, may apply to the OR Nurse Transition to Practice Program

Responsibilities

• Functions as Circulator/Scrub Nurse in the Operating Room.
• Organizes and administers individualized, professional patient care to patients within the Operating Room.
• Provides nursing care in accordance with the objectives, policies, procedures and protocols of the hospital and AORN, ASPAN and SGNA standards.
• Participates in patient teaching; incorporates the needs and behavior of the patient’s specific age/cultural groups in planning and providing care.
• Participates in quality improvement activities.
