About The Position

Hartford Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to work in the OR Neuro Spine unit. This role involves functioning as a Circulator/Scrub Nurse, providing individualized, professional patient care within the Operating Room. The nurse will adhere to hospital policies, AORN, ASPAN, and SGNA standards, participate in patient teaching, and engage in quality improvement activities. The Neuro Operating Room team specializes in care for patients undergoing complex neuro and spine surgeries, including conditions like brain tumors, degenerative spine disease, spinal cord injuries, and complications from acute stroke. Nurses are crucial in ensuring patient safety and well-being during these procedures.

Requirements

• Current active CT RN License
• Previous OR experience required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required at time of hire
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Independent problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication skills

Nice To Haves

• OR Novice nurses, including Graduate Nurses, may apply to the OR Nurse Transition to Practice Program
• BSN Preferred
• CNOR certification preferred

Responsibilities

• Functions as Circulator/Scrub Nurse in the Operating Room.
• Organizes and administers individualized, professional patient care to patients within the Operating Room.
• Provides nursing care in accordance with the objectives, policies, procedures and protocols of the hospital and AORN, ASPAN and SGNA standards.
• Participates in patient teaching; incorporates the needs and behavior of the patient’s specific age/cultural groups in planning and providing care.
• Participates in quality improvement activities.
