About The Position

This position is for a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the Memory Care unit at Helen Porter Nursing Home. The Memory Care unit is designed to meet the evolving needs of individuals with dementia, offering activity-based care in a supportive and safe environment focused on maintaining dignity, purpose, and functional ability. This specialized unit cares for vulnerable residents who may require assistance with self-advocacy. Helen Porter Rehabilitation & Nursing provides skilled nursing care and assistance with daily living in a home-like environment, accommodating 105 residents and licensed by the state of Vermont and certified by Medicare and Medicaid. This is a bargaining union position for Registered Nurses.

Requirements

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (for RN).
Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the State of Vermont required (for RN).
Current LPN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the State of Vermont required (for LPN).
Able to read, write, and speak the English language.
Demonstrate competence as a nursing practitioner.
BLS certification.

Nice To Haves

Gerontological nursing experience preferred.
Knowledge of supervision techniques preferred.

Responsibilities

Performs services requiring substantial specialized knowledge, judgment and skill for carrying out the nursing regimen in support of medical care, based upon the principles of the biological, physiological, behavioral, and social sciences (for RN).
Performs services requiring substantial specialized knowledge, judgment and skill for carrying out selected aspects of the designated nursing regiment under the direction of a RN (for LPN).
