About The Position

Johnson Memorial Health is a nationally-recognized network of physicians, services and healthcare resources based in Johnson County, Indiana. The centerpiece is Johnson Memorial Hospital, located in Franklin Indiana, just 20 minutes south of Indianapolis. The Registered Nurse - Operating Room position involves obtaining and recording initial patient assessments, reassessing patients, making comprehensive nursing decisions, participating in patient/significant other health education and discharge planning, coordinating team assignments, participating in new staff orientation, maintaining a safe environment, and contributing to continuous quality improvement. A $5,000.00 bonus is available for external candidates who commit to a 24-month term. All activities must comply with applicable laws, regulations, standards, and Johnson Memorial Health policies and procedures, including Blood and Body Substance Precautions. Requirements

ACLS or ALS certification must be obtained within 6 months of hire (Critical Care Unit).
Must successfully complete dysrhythmia recognition test at initial department orientation (Critical Care Unit).
Must complete ACLS or ALS certification during orientation (Emergency Department).
Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course or PALS must be completed within one year of hire (Emergency Department).
ACLS or ALS Certification required (Maternity Center).
NPR certification is required within 3 months of hire (Maternity Center).
Licensure as Registered Nurse in the State of Indiana required.
BLS or CPR for Healthcare Providers Certification required.
PALS Certification required for staff who are assigned to care for pediatric patients.
24-month commitment for the bonus.

Responsibilities

Obtains and records initial assessment and establishes priorities according to patient age, symptoms, and psychosocial needs.
Reassesses patients systematically to identify progress and trends that require intervention. Implements and documents timely interventions appropriate to patient needs and recognizes and responds to emergencies.
Makes comprehensive nursing decisions based on the interpretation of facts and evaluations of patient outcome.
Participates in patient/significant other health education and discharge planning.
Coordinates team assignments and makes adjustments based upon patient and unit needs; follows up on delegated patient care tasks for quality and completeness. Utilizes appropriate chain of command for resolution of difficult issues.
Participates in orientation of new staff.
Maintains a neat, organized, and safe environment for patients and staff.
Participates in the unit’s continuous quality improvement plan to improve organizational performance.
Functions as a resource to visitors, physicians, and staff; greeting them promptly and courteously.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Conducts all activities in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, standards, and Johnson Memorial Health policies and procedures including Blood and Body Substance Precautions.
