About The Position

This role is for a Registered Nurse in the Operating Room at Ascension St. Vincent Evansville. The position is full-time, with day shifts from 6:30 am to 7 pm, and rotating days off Monday through Friday. The nurse will be required to take call during the week and on weekends as needed for department coverage. A key requirement is living within a 30-mile radius of the hospital.

Requirements

Registered Nurse credentialed from the Indiana Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing OR Required professional licensure at time of hire required.

Responsibilities

Prepare operating suites, sterile instruments, and specialized equipment before procedures to ensure a safe, immaculate environment for every surgical team and patient.
Lead comprehensive OR management by continuously monitoring patient condition, advocating for safety, and orchestrating care across the surgical team before, during, and after procedures.
Select, organize, and pass specialized surgical instruments and supplies with expert precision, maintaining a flawless sterile field to keep procedures running smoothly.
Assist operating physicians with critical surgical tasks—including patient positioning, wound exposure, suturing, and hemostasis—to optimize procedural outcomes and promote rapid recovery.
Provide holistic, professional nursing care to patients undergoing invasive procedures, offering a reassuring presence and upholding the highest clinical safety standards.
