About The Position

The individual in this position is responsible for the delivery of safe, effective, and quality patient-family centered care in the Operating Room and other areas of perioperative services for all patient populations.

Requirements

Associate's Degree (two year college or technical school) Required, Field of Study: Nursing.
1-2 years of operating room experience preferred
Basic Computer Proficiency
Current Registered Nurse (RN) license and able to practice in the state of Wisconsin.
Certified in BLS and ACLS according to policy.
The ability to get one's ideas across through oral or written means and to understand the ideas of others through effective listening skills.
Ability to take care of the "customers" needs while following Crossing Rivers Health procedures.
Ability to actively attend to, convey, and understand the comments and questions of others.
Ability to make critical decisions while following company procedures.

Responsibilities

Assess patients at intervals as stated in policies and procedures.
Develop an individualized perioperative patient plan of care.
Implement the plan of care by protecting the patient from injury, performing accounting procedures to protect the patient from unintended retained surgical items, performing interventions to ensure the patient's procedure is performed on the correct site, side, and level, managing the patient's specimens, communicating the patient's current status, administering medications safely, performing interventions to maintain the patient's wound and tissue perfusion, performing interventions to maintain the status of various body systems and fluid balances, performing interventions to ensure the patient is at or returned to normothermia, performing interventions to protect the patient from surgical site infection, assessing the knowledge level of the patient or designated support person, providing education regarding expected responses and management, involving the patient or designated support person in decisions, protecting the patient's rights, dignity, and privacy, providing age-specific, culturally competent, ethical care within legal standards of practice, and providing consistent and comparable care regardless of the setting.
Evaluate the patient's progress toward attaining outcomes.
Transfer care as applicable.
Assess cultural and age-specific considerations for appropriate care planning.
Accurately document all nursing care and related services in the patient health record.
Delegate tasks according to the state Nurse Practice Act and job descriptions.
Document nursing care accurately, completely, and legibly.
Collaborate effectively with other disciplines as applicable.
Participate in quality review and performance improvement projects.
Participate in the performance appraisal process.
Maintain required competencies.
Maintain current RN licensure as required.
Maintain compliance with departmental policies, procedures and clinic processes.
Other job duties and responsibilities as assigned to effectively meet the needs of the patients, the department, and the organization as a whole.
