About The Position

This position is for a Registered Nurse in the Operating Room. For recent nurse graduates, IU Health offers an O.R. Fellowship Program which provides a dynamic experience to transition from student nurse to professional nurse. This program includes Perioperative 101 training to learn scrubbing and circulating, and support from OR Educators and preceptors. For experienced OR nurses, orientations are bi-weekly and require orientation during Day shift (7a-3:30p). This position is referral eligible and qualifies for a location differential. The unit handles Level 1 Trauma Services, including Orthopedics, Orthopedic trauma, Neurosurgery (Brain & spine), Cardiovascular, Peripheral Vascular, General Surgery, Ears Nose and Throat, Gynecology, Plastic Surgery, Thoracic, and Urology. The unit has 29 ORs, with 2 hybrid rooms and 1 IMRIS unit. The unit has received national recognition and is Magnet designated. The unit culture is active and engaged, with interdisciplinary teams working on process improvement.

Requirements

• Associates of Nursing (ASN)
• Current state of Indiana license as Registered Nurse
• Graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program (exceptions may apply for candidates with more than two years of acute care experience, subject to CNO approval)
• Basic Life Support certification through the AHA
• Some on-call requirements

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) preferred
• Other Advanced Life Support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty
