About The Position

The Registered Nurse (Warren Clinic) - Oncology position at Saint Francis is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for patients as ordered by physicians, with the goal of facilitating effective patient care delivery. This role is full-time, day shift, and is identified as a safety-sensitive position under the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Use and Patient Protection Act. Saint Francis is a large Catholic, not-for-profit Health system based in Tulsa, Oklahoma, with over 12,000 employees, including 1,000 physicians. The health system is anchored by the 1,112-bed Saint Francis Hospital and includes numerous other facilities and 110 Warren Clinic locations.

Requirements

  • Has completed the basic professional curricula of a school of nursing as approved and verified by a state board of nursing, and holds or is entitled to hold a diploma or degree therefrom.
  • Valid multi-state or State of Oklahoma Registered Nurse License.
  • 1 year of experience as a Registered Nurse.
  • Working knowledge of general disease state management processes, bio-psychosocial model, and clinical pathways.
  • Working knowledge of intramuscular and intravenous medication administration techniques.
  • Working knowledge of nursing principles and protocols.
  • Knowledge of policies and procedures related to infection control, environmental safety, and patient confidentiality.
  • Effective and appropriate assessment and assistance techniques required in the medical examination of patients.
  • Effective interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work in an effective and efficient manner.
  • Ability to be detail oriented in the examination of clinical and numerical data.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, organize, and carry out patient care with consideration to patient age, cultural, and psychosocial factors.
  • Assist physician with patient examinations, diagnostic procedures, and treatments according to established protocols.
  • Administer medications via intra-muscular injections and intravenously including the administration of chemotherapy as directed by physician order.
  • Coordinate patient care through the triage of patient telephone calls regarding urgency of appointments, scheduling, and hospital admissions according to established protocols.
  • Promote patient population wellness by providing patient education materials pursuant to physician orders and communicating physician advice and instructions to patients.
  • Document all interventions, patient/family responses, medication dispensed or prescribed, and appropriate medical data in patient medical record according to established protocols.
  • Successfully uses IDX, EMR and other computer applications to accomplish tasks according to policies and procedures.
