Registered Nurse (RN) Oncology Part-Time (Nights)
About The Position
Sentara is hiring a Part-time Night Shift Registered Nurse for the Dedicated Oncology Unit at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, VA. Qualified candidates may be eligible for up to a $10,000 sign-on bonus. The Oncology 6 RP Unit is a 36-bed inpatient Intermediate Care Unit dedicated to caring for patients with cancer. Nurses on this unit provide compassionate, specialized care while monitoring patient conditions, administering medications, delivering chemotherapy and other treatments, and supporting patients through complex care needs. Care provided on this unit includes chemotherapy, hospice, radiation, stem cell transplant/CAR-T, radioactive iodine, and symptom management. Work within one of the country’s largest cancer networks, accredited as an Integrated Network Cancer Program by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including board-certified and fellowship-trained cancer experts, to support individualized patient care. Provide care in an environment that prioritizes advanced, evidence-based technology and treatments, including innovative radiation therapies, robotic surgery, and HIPEC®. Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, located in Norfolk, VA, is a 525-bed tertiary care facility that is home to the only Level I Adult Trauma Center and burn trauma unit in Hampton Roads, and also serves as the primary teaching hospital for Eastern Virginia Medical School. In addition to the high-quality heart program at Sentara Heart Hospital, our facility is home to Nightingale Regional Air Ambulance and several other dedicated facilities and specialized services. As a recognized accredited Comprehensive Stroke Center, and Magnet hospital for nursing excellence, our hospital specializes in heart and vascular, neurosciences, neurosurgery, urology, oncology, spine care, advanced imaging, behavioral health, maternity, and women’s health, including a state-of-the-art neonatal intensive care unit.
Requirements
- Registered Nurse license required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 90 days of hire
- Oncology Nursing Society (ONS)/Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation (ONCC) or Sentara-approved Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Provider Card required within 6 months of hire
- No prior RN experience required
- New Graduate RNs Are Welcome to Apply

- Students currently completing an accredited nursing program are encouraged to apply
- Students in the process of obtaining a Registered Nurse license may be considered
