About The Position

UW Medical Center – Northwest has an outstanding opportunity for an experienced and compassionate Oncology Nurse to join our new Oncology unit. 4A is an oncology unit serving hematology-oncology and medical-oncology patients. Common diagnoses include lymphoma, sarcoma, and a variety of solid-tumor cancers. This unit specializes in chemotherapy and biotherapy administration, management of treatment-related side effects, end-of-life care, and care of cancer-related complications such as pain, immunosuppression, electrolyte imbalances, and organ dysfunction. Specialized equipment includes chemotherapy administration supplies and a carbon-filtered chemotherapy spill PAPR. This unit is also a resource for central venous access device care and maintenance.

Requirements

  • Minimum one year of current or recent Oncology nursing experience
  • ONS Chemotherapy certification preferred
  • Active license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Washington State
  • Active BLS Certification

Responsibilities

  • Screen patients for Oncology treatment
  • Place IVs, and initiate, assess and observe patients during infusions
  • Provide procedural support
  • Document all activities in the Electronic Medical Record
  • Provide care management education for patients and their families

  • Evening Shift Premium - $3.00/hour
