About The Position

This position collaborates with physicians to develop and implement patient care plans aimed at returning patients to optimal health. The role involves providing direct bedside nursing care, executing medical orders, and overseeing the functions of various support staff including Nurse Assistants, Patient Care Associates, and others. The Registered Nurse is responsible for evaluating the effectiveness of the care plan and ensuring patient needs are met throughout their treatment and upon discharge or transfer.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Current license to practice in the state of Michigan.
• Must satisfactorily complete the first available Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Drug Course (Does not apply to per diem staff).
• BLS issued by American Heart Association or Red Cross Certification.
• Infusion Clinic experience.
• PICC Certification within six months of hire/transfer (Does not apply to per diem staff).

Nice To Haves

• Six (6) months experience in an acute care setting or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Integrates evidence-based knowledge into practice.
• Delegates and coordinates tasks and assignments for nursing care.
• Facilitates and participates in patient conferences.
• Identifies and addresses patients’ ongoing and discharge/transfer teaching needs by communicating with appropriate resources and attending discharge/transfer planning conferences.
• Assumes responsibility for professional growth by seeking educational opportunities.
• Teaches and guides professional and ancillary personnel.
• Precepts and mentors new employees and students.
• Functions as a team leader to ensure proper patient placement and delegation of assignments.
