We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our medical oncology team at Dartmouth Cancer Center-St. Johnsbury (Vermont). This person must have an unwavering commitment to professionalism, nursing excellence, and teamwork. This position requires empathy, critical thinking, flexibility and the desire to thrive in an ever-changing nursing specialty. Oncology experience is preferred but we will train the right person. In this role, you will provide exceptional care to patients with cancer, helping them navigate the physical and emotional complexities of diagnosis, treatment, symptom management, infection prevention and recovery. Primary responsibilities of this position include working in our patient access room and our infusion room and include the following: Patient Assessment and Care: Conduct comprehensive assessments to determine patient needs, including physical, emotional, and psychosocial aspects. CVAD and peripheral phlebotomy, IV access, care and maintenance Chemotherapy and Infusion Therapy: Administer chemotherapy, biotherapy, and other medications according to protocols and safety guidelines. Symptom Management: Monitor and manage symptoms and side effects related to cancer and cancer treatments Patient/Family Education: Provide education to patients and families on cancer, treatment plans, medication management, side effects and self-care strategies. Patient-centered care, critical thinking and commitment to supporting patients and their families throughout their cancer journey. Collaborate with ancillary departments, healthcare teams and physicians to support patients individualized needs.
