About The Position

Sentara is hiring full-time Registered Nurses for the Dedicated Oncology Intermediate Care Unit at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, VA. This 36-bed unit cares for patients with cancer, providing specialized care including chemotherapy, hospice, radiation, stem cell transplant/CAR-T, radioactive iodine, and symptom management. Nurses collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in an environment that prioritizes advanced technology and evidence-based treatments. New graduates are welcome and will be supported by an 11-week Transition to Practice program, followed by a 6-month residency. Experienced nurses transitioning into oncology or intermediate care are also encouraged to apply.

Requirements

  • Degree or diploma in Registered Nursing required.
  • Registered Nurse license required.
  • Students in the process of obtaining a Registered Nurse license may be considered.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 90 days of hire.
  • Oncology Nursing Society (ONS)/Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation (ONCC) or Sentara-approved Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Provider Card required within 6 months of hire.
  • No prior RN experience required.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred.
  • Students currently completing an accredited nursing program are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Provide compassionate, specialized care for patients with cancer.
