About The Position

As a PRN Registered Nurse, Occupational Health, you will provide remote support to client employees through occupational health hotline services and case management activities. This role requires availability to work Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM Eastern Time, as needed to support operational and staffing requirements. Candidates must hold an active Compact RN License and be able to practice in accordance with applicable state regulations. In this position, you will assist employees by providing telephonic occupational health support, triaging concerns, managing cases, coordinating care, and ensuring appropriate follow-up. Requirements

  • Certificate from an accredited Nursing School or Associate degree (A.S.) is required
  • Currently licensed Registered Nurse in state of practice required
  • Current certification with hands-on training in AHA, ARC or equivalent Basic Life Support for health care providers is required
  • At least three years’ experience as a Registered Nurse in an occupational health clinic, emergency room, or other ambulatory care clinic
  • Experience in strategies to promote and maintain healthy, safe, and productive workplaces, including: partners to identify/mitigate workplace hazards, health screenings/education, fitness for duty, and return to work exams
  • Candidates must hold an active Compact RN License and be able to practice in accordance with applicable state regulations.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree (BSN) from four-year college or university is preferred
  • Certification in Occupational Health (COHN/COHN-S), Emergency Nursing, or Case Management preferred and may be required for some sites
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support may also be required based on contract scope of services

Responsibilities

  • Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements related to clinical operations and manages required physical evaluations (OSHA, DOT, CDC, etc.)
  • Evaluates, treats, and prioritizes patient care within the scope of practice
  • Delivers evidence-based care to injured workers, accelerates return to work, and coordinates case management with the TPA and client
  • Implements and monitors transitional duty programs for injured workers
  • Performs and documents medical tests, screenings, and treatments as defined in site contract (EKG, audiometry, spirometry, vision)
  • Administers medications and emergency care within legal scope of practice
  • Maintains medical equipment, ensures a clean and safe environment, and follows infection control procedures
  • Maintains patient health records to ensure accurate and up-to-date records
  • Educates patients on health promotion and participates in follow-up care
  • Collaborates with healthcare professionals and resources, and company departments on health programs and injury prevention
  • Assists with accident investigations, return-to-work programs, and workplace safety initiatives
  • Performs other duties as assigned
