The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Occupational Health Clinic provides first-aid services to injured employees, assists with illnesses by providing basic care and advice, and refers employees to emergency services or primary care physicians as needed. This role also involves providing CPR and first-aid training, medical oversight, and operational support for onsite staff. The RN communicates the availability of employee assistance programs, collaborates with company management on health-related matters, and follows up with employees on medically related issues to ensure compliance with their plan of care. They also contact employees on lost time or modified duty, keeping supervisors informed of progress. The position includes administering medical screenings, wellness programs, and health promotion activities such as monitoring vital signs, administering immunizations, and facilitating tobacco cessation programs. The RN works with the employer to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements like Workers Compensation Law, OSHA, DOT, and ADA, and collaborates with the medical director. Key responsibilities include maintaining the OSHA 300 log, filing WC-12 reports, and adhering to OSHA record-keeping requirements. Case management services are provided by collaborating with medical providers to facilitate employee return to work. The RN offers consultative services on medical care, rehabilitation, and educational programs, providing feedback and metrics on the case management process. Confidentiality of employee health information is maintained in accordance with HIPAA guidelines, and medical files are kept for various employee health matters. The role also involves performing plant safety tours and advising management on ergonomic practices. The RN must demonstrate knowledge and skills for age-appropriate patient care, understanding growth and development principles to assess and interpret patient status and provide necessary care.
