About The Position

Sentara RMH Medical Center is hiring a Registered Nurse for Level 2 Nursery/ Mother Baby areas in the Family Birthplace department. A sign-on bonus of up to $20,000 is available with no commitment or contract required. This role welcomes both new graduate nurses and experienced nurses transitioning into this specialty. The Transition to Practice (TTP) program offers specialized orientation and skill acquisition for practice in various Women's Health areas, including Labor & Delivery, Labor-Delivery-Recovery-Postpartum, Antepartum, Mother/Baby, or Nursery. For new graduates, this TTP program is the beginning of a comprehensive 6-month residency program designed to support their transition to practice. The program includes formal delivery of fundamental Women's Health nursing concepts and standards through the Perinatal Orientation and Education Program (POEP) modules, blended with in-person sessions like case studies, gaming, simulation, and skills labs. Participants will gain exposure to Sentara policies and evidence-based practice guidelines, hands-on experience alongside a trained nurse preceptor, and opportunities to network with peers. Experienced nurses may opt for a series of virtual professional development sessions with mentoring.

Requirements

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree – Nursing (Required)
  • Registered Nurse License (Required)

Responsibilities

  • Provide care in Level 2 Nursery/ Mother Baby areas within the Family Birthplace department.
  • Participate in the Transition to Practice/ Nurse Residency Program for orientation and skill acquisition.

  • Utilize case studies, gaming, simulation, and skills labs for learning.
