About The Position

Sentara Obici Hospital is seeking motivated Registered Nurses to provide high-quality, patient-centered care in their Nursery and Postpartum Care Unit. This role offers a supportive environment where teamwork and professional growth are encouraged. The hospital is a 175-bed, full-service community hospital known for its compassionate, high-quality care and strong sense of teamwork, serving a diverse and welcoming community in Suffolk, Virginia. The Labor and Delivery and Postpartum Care Unit is a 22-bed department with 10 L&D/Triage rooms and 12 Post Partum Rooms, along with a 20-room dedicated nursery. The unit provides care for laboring patients from admission to discharge, including labor and delivery, recovery, and postpartum care, as well as OBGYN surgical patients. The Registered Nursing (RN) is responsible to perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. The standards of practice and professional performance encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing. The RN possesses clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas. BSN or MSN is preferred.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Diploma in Nursing
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN)
  • Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN)
  • Virginia or Compact Multi-State License in good standing
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) within 90 days of hire
  • ACLS and PALS or ENPC within one (1) year of hire
  • Will consider new grads who have preceptorship or PCT experience on an L&D floor.

Nice To Haves

  • At least 1 year of acute care nursing experience
  • BSN or MSN preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process.
  • Assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation.
  • Adhere to standards of professional performance including ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice/nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health.
  • Possess clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.
