About The Position

Sentara Obici Hospital is seeking motivated Registered Nurses to provide high-quality, patient-centered care in their Nursery and Postpartum Care Unit. This role offers a supportive environment where teamwork and professional growth are encouraged. The hospital, located in Suffolk, Virginia, is a 175-bed community hospital known for its compassionate care and teamwork. The Nursery and Postpartum Care Unit is a fast-paced environment with 22 beds, including labor and delivery/triage rooms, postpartum rooms, and a dedicated 20-room nursery. The unit cares for laboring patients from admission to discharge, including labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum care, as well as OBGYN surgical patients. The unit is recognized for its patient experience and has a history of Daisy Award winners. The hospital is Magnet designated and pursuing AWHONN designation.

Requirements

  • Virginia or Compact Multi-State License in good standing
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) within 90 days of hire
  • ACLS and PALS or ENPC within one (1) year of hire
  • Associate’s Degree, Diploma, or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
  • Will consider new grads who have preceptorship or PCT experience on an L&D floor.
  • At least 1 year of acute care nursing experience (preferred)

Nice To Haves

  • BSN or MSN preferred.
  • Meets and maintains any requirements defined by specific specialty.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process.
  • Adhere to the standards of practice including assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care, teaching and health promotion, and evaluation.
  • Uphold the standards of professional performance including ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice/nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health.
  • Utilize clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.
