About The Position

Baystate Health is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). The Davis Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Baystate Children’s Hospital is the region’s only Level III NICU, providing care for the region's smallest patients 24 hours a day. The unit includes a Continuing Care Nursery for infants who have graduated from the NICU but require continued monitoring. The position highlights include Magnet Recognition & Shared Governance, emphasizing shared decision-making between bedside nurses and nurse leaders in areas such as resources, research, equipment purchases, and staffing. The role also focuses on Safety & Support, with on-site PPE coaches and educators, and commitment to patient and self-care. Professional Development is a core value, with accreditation for continuing education, sponsorship for certifications, attendance at national conferences, and loan reimbursement/forgiveness programs.

Requirements

  • Successfully passed Board of Registration in Nursing Examination and is licensed in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
  • Current American Heart Association Health Care Provider CPR certification required.
  • Minimum 2 years of inpatient RN experience required.
  • Diploma in Nursing (Required)
  • Basic Life Support - American Heart Association
  • Registered Nurse - State of Massachusetts

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years of Mother/baby or NICU experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide compassionate care to patients in the NICU.
  • Monitor infants who have graduated from the NICU in the Continuing Care Nursery.
  • Participate in shared decision-making regarding resources, nursing research, evidence-based practice projects, new equipment purchases, and staffing.
  • Utilize PPE coaches and educators for safety and education.
  • Engage in learning and mentoring as part of the professional practice model.
  • Obtain certifications and attend national conferences as supported by the organization.
